Why you shouldn’t leave a charger in an outlet when not in use

We all have habits we’d like to change, and some are easier to break than others. While certain habits stem from addiction, others persist simply out of routine or forgetfulness. Take my own experience, for example—I used to always leave my phone charger plugged in, even when it wasn’t in use. My partner frequently reminded me, but I never gave it much thought until I came across a post about the risks. Even in standby mode, chargers continue drawing power, leading to unnecessary electricity use and gradual wear and tear. In rare cases, voltage fluctuations could cause overheating or even a fire. Additionally, if you have kids or pets, leaving chargers plugged in increases the risk of them playing with the outlet. While modern safety standards minimize serious dangers, unplugging your charger is still a smart habit to adopt. Do you usually leave yours plugged in?
