Update on the Pope’s health after he reportedly told aides he ‘won’t make it this time’

Posted on March 8, 2025 By Admin

Pope Francis, 88, has been hospitalized at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital since February 14 due to severe pneumonia in both lungs. While breathing independently, he has reportedly been in intense pain and expressed doubts about his recovery. Pneumonia, which causes lung inflammation and fluid buildup, poses serious risks, especially for those with underlying health issues. Despite concerns, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni visited him on Wednesday and stated he was alert and in good spirits. The Vatican reassured the public on February 21 that he had a restful night, sat up for breakfast, and showed slight improvement. Elected in 2013, Pope Francis remains a historic figure as the first non-European pontiff in nearly 1,300 years
