In an emotional Oval Office address, President Joe Biden announced he will not seek re-election in 2024. At 82, he said the decision reflects his belief in generational change and a commitment to the country’s future.
Calling the presidency the “greatest honor” of his life, Biden stressed that public service is about the people, not personal ambition, stating, “I love my country more than I love this office.”
He urged unity over division and highlighted achievements such as managing the pandemic, growing the economy, lowering inflation, expanding healthcare, and restoring global alliances.
Biden praised Vice President Kamala Harris as a strong partner and expressed faith in the leadership team to continue their progress.
He reflected on his journey from Scranton to the White House, saying, “Only in America” is such a path possible. Biden ended with a call to unity and optimism, declaring, “We the people hold the power… when we stand united, there’s nothing we can’t achieve.”
