Experts caution against using air fryers instead of ovens

Posted on June 24, 2025 By Admin

Air fryers have become popular for quick, healthier cooking with less oil, delivering crispy results fast.

However, experts warn they’re not ideal for everything.

For example, popcorn can damage the appliance and cause fire hazards, wet batter leads to soggy coatings, and delicate foods like cheese, leafy greens, and grains don’t cook well without moisture.

Energy savings are also debated—using an air fryer multiple times for small batches may consume more energy than a conventional oven, especially for larger meals or batch cooking.

Despite this, many love air fryers for reheating, small portions, and quick meals. Use an air fryer for crispy, fast cooking for one or two people, but stick to the oven or stovetop for large meals, wet batters, baking, or batch cooking. The air fryer is great but not a complete oven replacement. Are you team Air Fryer, Oven, or both?
