I had always lived for my son, saving every penny and living simply. I raised him alone, giving up luxuries and focusing only on his future. John worked hard and eventually opened his own restaurant, making me incredibly proud.
One day, I decided to surprise him with a visit. I wore a neat, modest dress and went to his restaurant, hoping to quietly enjoy a cup of tea.
The place was busy and full of warmth. I chose a small table by the window. While sipping my tea, a young woman with a confident air approached me and asked me to move, saying the table was reserved for her and her boyfriend. When I explained there was no sign, she looked me over and said the table was meant for someone dressed more “appropriately.”
I felt humiliated but left quietly without causing trouble. I didn’t tell John about the incident, not wanting to disturb his happiness. The next day, John and his girlfriend came for lunch at my home. To my shock, the girl from the restaurant walked in, acting as if we’d never met. John was cheerful, unaware of what had happened.
During lunch, they asked for money so Sarah, the girl, could start her own café. I tried to warn John and shared what had happened at the restaurant, but he didn’t believe me. Sarah pretended not to remember and eventually gave John an ultimatum: either he chooses her or me. They left together, and I was left heartbroken. A month later, I received an invitation to the café’s opening. John said he wanted to reconnect, so I agreed to go. The café was beautiful, full of guests and energy. John greeted me warmly, and I hoped things might turn out well. But during the event, John shocked everyone by announcing he had broken up with Sarah and learned a hard lesson. She had taken the money, but her actions revealed her true intentions. He promised to trust me more going forward. We ended the evening surrounded by friends and family, stronger than before, and I knew my son had grown into a wise, thoughtful man.
