Despite advances in technology and research, some aspects of the human body remain a mystery. One such phenomenon is our ability to sense death approaching. Researchers Arnaud Wisman and Ilan Shira suggest that, like animals, humans can subconsciously detect putrescine, a foul odor released during decomposition. Exposure to this scent triggers a natural response: humans instinctively move away, much like animals that flee or fight when sensing danger.
