Optical Illusion May Reveal Traits Linked to Autism. Researchers are using a dot-based optical illusion to study cognitive patterns tied to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Viewers may see either two moving sheets or one spinning column—reflecting detail-focused vs. big-picture thinking. The former is more common in individuals with ASD. A study of 50 ad*lts showed those who saw two sheets (and whose pupils reacted accordingly) also scored higher on autism-related traits. While not a diagnostic tool, the illusion offers insight into how people with ASD process visual information, potentially aiding future research and early screening
