Retired U.S. Navy Admiral Found Guilty in Bribery Scheme

Retired U.S. Navy Admiral Robert Burke has been convicted on charges of bribery, conspiracy, and concealment of material facts following a five-day trial. Prosecutors revealed that between 2018 and 2021, Burke used his senior position to steer a $355,000 contract toward a private company, known as Firm A, in exchange for a lucrative future job. In return, Burke received a salary offer of $500,000 and 100,000 stock options from Firm A. He also misrepresented and withheld details of his communications with the firm during the contracting process. The case marks a rare corruption conviction at such a high level of military leadership. Sentencing is scheduled for August 22, 2025
