DOJ Probes Autopen Use in Presidential Pardons The Justice Department is investigating claims that an autopen was misused to issue presidential pardons in the final days of the previous administration. Ed Martin, head of the DOJ’s Weaponization Working Group, said a whistleblower alleged the process was tightly controlled and potentially abused. Key Figures Named Officials under review include Ron Klain, Anita Dunn, Robert Bauer, Steve Ricchetti, and First Lady Jill Biden. No wrongdoing is assumed at this stage. Concerns Questions arose after signed documents surfaced while the president was reportedly unavailable. Allegations suggest aides may have acted without proper authority. Oversight The House Oversight Committee is also reviewing the matter. New legislation may follow to increase checks on executive actions.
