If you feel the urge to have a bowel movement right after eating, you’re not alone — and it’s not because the food went straight through you. A doctor on TikTok explains it’s due to the gastrocolic reflex, a normal body response. When food enters your stomach, it stretches and signals your brain to tell your colon to contract. This clears space for more food and can cause the sudden need to use the restroom. The stool passed is from earlier meals, not the one you just ate.
