Do You Wake Up With a Wet Pillow? Find Out Why You Drool While You Sleep

Posted on April 30, 2025May 2, 2025 By Admin

Why You Might Drool in Your Sleep Drooling during sleep is common and usually harmless. It often happens because facial muscles relax during deep sleep, allowing the mouth to open and saliva to escape. Sleeping on your side or stomach can make it worse due to gravity, while sleeping on your back may reduce it.

Other causes include: Nasal congestion from colds or allergies, Excess saliva from infections, medications, or GERD, Neurological conditions like Parkinson’s or stroke, Certain medications, like sedatives or antipsychotics When to see a doctor: If drooling is excessive, frequent, or linked to snoring or breathing issues, it could be a sign of sleep apnea or another condition. Tips: Try sleeping on your back, clear nasal passages, and keep good oral hygiene
