Under water!

Throwback to a wild Burmese python underwater in the Everglades back in 2015. The water was so clear, most people wouldn’t even realize the photo was taken underwater if I didn’t mention it! In the shot, the python is flicking its tongue — a behavior used to collect scent particles and deliver them to the Jacobson’s organ for analysis. Snakes do this both in the air and underwater, which is pretty fascinating. Pythons are incredibly comfortable in the water — honestly, most of the ones I catch are found within a hundred yards of it, Since there’s so much misinformation and repeated questions about pythons, I put together a blog to cover the most common topics: why they’re here, how big they get, what they eat, their impact on the ecosystem, bounty programs, comparisons to feral cats, eradication possibilities, what happens to the ones we catch, whether they can be rehomed
